Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas from ExeterViews.co.uk

It’s been a very busy year at ExeterViews.co.uk. The site has been given an all over new look that has also made it mobile and tablet friendly too. We’ve created a new look Exeter photograph gallery to place a growing number of photographs taken of this lovely city. The gallery will also eventually house images from the older archive photograph gallery.

The new look Exeter Events and What’s On Calendar was launched to show some of the event’s taking place in the city together with more from the surrounding area of Devon. This has become one of the most popular pages with visitors  seeking to find out ‘What’s On in Exeter’ and for event organisers to list their events.

To keep up to date with events added to the calendar we recommend following us on: TwitterGoogle+Facebook

2016 also saw the ‘Exeter Accommodation and Places to Stay‘ section go live featuring a new accommodation search facility to help book available rooms in Exeter and Devon.

There are many many more pages that have also either been updated or added to the site. We have further plans, ideas and updates for 2017 that will see the site continue to expand and become a great resource for people either living in Exeter or visiting the city….

For now we want to wish all our visitors Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

There’s plenty of great food to try as well as many gifts to buy at one of Exeter’s market days this Christmas

Exeter Markets

After recently updating the Exeter shopping areas’ page, we’ve now also updated the Exeter Markets section that includes the Christmas Market highlighted here today.

Throughout the year Exeter hosts many markets at various venues within the city from modern street food and car boot sales to traditional street markets. Although these are popular throughout the year, none offer the glitz and alluring setting of the very popular Exeter Christmas Market that’s held on the Cathedral Green!

You can find out more information on some of the market days available on the Exeter What’s On Calendar.

This updated page will feature our all new look that’s also mobile and tablet friendly too. We hope you’ll find the updates more accessible and the information provided for Shopping in Exeter useful and helpful…

Exeter’s 19240 Shrouds of the Somme

19240 Shrouds of the Somme Memorial

Friday 1st July to Thurs 7th July 2016

Exeter’s 19240 Shrouds of the Somme was an arts project and display launched in Northernhay Gardens, Exeter on the 1st July 2016 to commemorate those who died on the first day of battle 100 years ago.

Exeter's 19240 Shrouds of the Somme

19,240 12-inch figures were created for this poignant display to represent each of the British soldiers who lost their lives during the first four hours of the Battle of the Somme.

These shrouded figurines were on view and laid out perfectly on the green lawns of Northernhay Gardens in front of the war memorial for visitors to view.

The artist at the centre of this project was Rob Heard from Somerset who individually hand-stitched the shroud of each of the figures.
